About Dashing Prints
Who we are, and why this board exists.
Dashing Prints is a free, community-run bounty board for practical 3D printing. Someone posts a real, everyday annoyance — a cable that won't stay clipped, a drawer that needs one more divider, a part that snapped and is no longer sold — and hobbyist designers in the community respond with an open-source, printable fix. There is no payment involved on either side; “bounty” here means a request worth solving, not a cash reward. Every file shared through the site is released under an open license so anyone can print it, remix it, or improve it.
1. Post the problem
Describe the physical annoyance you're trying to solve, add a photo or a rough dimension, and publish it to the board.
2. The community designs
Anyone can respond with an STL, 3MF, or step file, print settings, and a description of how it solves the request.
3. Anyone can print it
Solutions stay public and open-source, so the fix for one person's problem becomes a free download for everyone who has the same one.
Why it exists
Most practical, unglamorous 3D-printing fixes never get made or shared — they solve a problem too small to sell, so no one bothers to publish a polished model for it. Dashing Prints exists to collect exactly that category of print: not the impressive showpiece, but the small annoyance fixed for good, shared for free.
The project is run as a small, goodwill effort rather than a commercial product. We're not trying to build a business around this board — the goal is to put something useful into the world and keep it funded well enough to stay online.
How it's funded
Hosting a bounty board with thousands of images and 3D model files isn't free — file storage and bandwidth are the largest ongoing cost. We run a limited amount of advertising on the site solely to cover those hosting costs, not to generate profit. No account, bounty, or download is ever placed behind a paywall.
